Striving Towards Collaborative Community
What I see in the young people around me, is a desire for belonging and a desire to connect, but no direction of where to find a physical space that meets such needs.
Until I came to The Youth Initiative Program I had the same desires; however I was lost and unsure as to where I would achieve them- but now the answer is blindingly obvious...
Young people in todays society often have little direct connection to community- families are often spread over thousands of miles, even continents, friends dispurse to new schools and colleges on a regular basis- so it is no surprise that direct Community plays such a minor role in their lifestyles.
However I am adament that more and more young people are craving the sense of community, connection and belonging that I have come to experience here at YIP - you see it in their virtual communities online, chat rooms, forums, social networks and the like- but its time we pushed the emergence of physical community and made it accessible not only to specific local communities but to a far wider reaching International community.
Here at YIP we have been blessed with a fantastic and fruitful year of experience and knowledge and now we all feel a deep desire and drive to share this with others and to help other Youth searching for a sense of inner and outer community to come and co-create theirs...
This desire to share has taken the form of a fantastic Festival opportunity.
After months of visioning, hard work and organising it has manifested in the form of Sense Festival -where we welcoem you to connect and engage in a collaborative learning environment, providing inspiration and encouragement through collective community action.
So don't delay, this is one of those opportunities that you, me and our inner community can't afford to miss. Its time to register, its time to join in the inspiration and start creating that sense of community we are all striving for.
