Wandering Reel is a traveling short film festival with a focus on bringing meaningful films to communities with limited or no access to compassionate, thought-provoking cinema. We strive to engage our audiences in deeper conversation about the role of cinema, and how films can relate to community, conscious living, and contribute to making the world a stronger and more unified place.
In an era of unprecedented access to media, Wandering Reel Traveling Film Festival creates a forum to show films and to share in conversation and the experience of a living, artistic and compassionate community. We hope to inspire new storytellers to share their visions while exhibiting film art from all different eras and cultures around the globe.
Mission & Beliefs:
Artists have long been at the forefront of social innovation. Wandering Reel believes in the power of film art to effect positive change, to bring people together through shared cultural experiences and to inspire conversation and collaboration between individuals and communities through the common experience of cinema. By exposing undeserved communities with films that are artful in their meaning and compassionate and conscious in their approach, the boundaries that divide people can be slowly stripped away, cultures can be enriched and peace grown across the globe.
The Girls of Summer is a feature documentary about the girls and women who play baseball, against persistent and surprising odds in a world that claims to be moving toward greater equality.
A ball game may seem insignificant, but in reality, it is a microcosm of a much larger issue. And it’s from the micro out to the macro that the world changes. This this is a film about the women and girls who play baseball, but is also, in part, a reflection of our society and our cultural relationship to gender, gender expectations, women in sports and the freedom to pursue dreams, hopes, and one’s own path regardless of gender.

West Coast MegaGames is a volunteer company interested in designing large format social strategy game events and producing them across the West Coast of the United States. Megagames are large social games involving multiple teams of players. The subject matter can range from politics, economics, history, science fiction, or heroic fantasy. Much of what goes on might be described as social play – though there is also a large element of problem solving, strategy, negotiation – and of course, humor.
Our mission is to design and develop large scale social-political simulation events with various themes and to promote the megagame format throughout the US West Coast as both an entertainment and an educational gaming experience.
Do you have a project that you’d like to do in conjunction with WeStrive, or interested in sponsorship? If your initiative fits in line with our mission, please send us some information about you and your initiative and we will be in touch shortly with an application.
